Foreword of the Alliance Française de Hong Kong

The Alliance Française proudly presents the 38th edition of its French Cinepanorama. We will be honoured to welcome actress and Chanel brand ambassador Anna Mouglalis, as well as and prominent film directors Benoît Jacquot and Jan Kounen to present their film in Hong Kong.

With such prestigious guests and a selection comprising 38 films this year’s programme has turned out to be one of our most ambitious to date. We hope it will satisfy the demand from an ever increasing audience keen on seeing the latest trends in French cinema. In fact, last year’s Cinepanorama welcomed a total of 9,000 viewers.

That we have four outstanding films to share with Hong Kong audiences as gala premieres shows the strong relationship we are fortunate to have with Hong Kong film distributors.

This year, we have once again selected a fresh crop of first films by promising young directors, starring the most well known and talented French actors.

Two retrospectives highlight the rest of the programming. One is dedicated to Jacques Audiard, whose latest film, the critically acclaimed, A Prophet, is one of our gala premiere screenings. The other retrospective is dedicated to filmmaker, eminent photographer and master documentarian, Raymond Depardon.

A rich selection of short films and animation completes this captivating programme featuring new talent in the field.
